Furthermore, Poisson regression was applied to describe and predict the trends in software usage from 2005 to 2021. Subsequently, the annual publications that contain the terms were used as a surrogate marker of importance. Moreover, no gray literature analysis was performed. The search query results were not further edited or restricted by specific exclusion criteria. The search was performed by one author (J.‐G.W.) and reviewed by two other authors (H.B., D.S.). For each digitizing software, the search query “systems pharmacology OR physiologically based pharmacokinetic AND software name” was used. Google Scholar was used because the search engine allows a full‐text analysis, which was a prerequisite because the use of digitizing software is, in most cases, only mentioned in the Methods sections of texts. In a first step, literature published between January 2005 and September 2019 were queried for terms regarding the most common digitizing software in combination with the two terminologies “systems pharmacology” and “physiologically based pharmacokinetic.” For this purpose, the software Publish or Perish 15 was used using the Google Scholar search engine for terminology queries. Finally, recommendations regarding the creation of digitizable plots and graphs and the digitization process itself were proposed. Moreover, discrepancies between reported and graphically presented data were quantified, and the covariates influencing the digitizing process were identified. Second, this analysis aimed to evaluate the accuracy and precision of a relevant digitizing software. Thus, the first objective of this analysis was to assess the general usage of the data digitizing software for QSP and PBPK modeling. Consequently, these factors can potentially interfere with model development and evaluation processes and ultimately lead to false predictions and questionable model‐based decisions. In addition, little is known about the extent of discrepancy between reported and graphically presented data that is typically only revealed after post hoc digitization and the nature of these errors and confounding factors when it comes to the digitization process. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, there is no systematic evaluation of the accuracy and precision of these software solutions, nor have any interfering factors that could potentially bias the digitized output been identified. 14 However, neither for them nor for QSP or PBPK modeling is information available regarding the importance and use of digitizing software. 10, 11, 12, 13 These software solutions have been in active use for some time for the well‐established population PK approaches. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Fortunately, several off‐the‐shelf digitization software packages that allow the extraction of numerical information from their two‐dimensional graphical representation are currently available. To illustrate the scale of this issue, it should be noted that PBPK projects not uncommonly rely on extracted data gathered from up to 50 articles. Despite the potential to automatically data‐mine population average pharmacokinetic (PK) data for certain applications, 2 data extraction from graphical representations still requires manual efforts. As a result, researchers must extract the information of interest from the graphical representation to use the data for their modeling approaches. Unfortunately, published data are typically presented in aggregate form as plots or graphs without providing access to the underlying raw, uncondensed data. 1 However, for model development, time‐dependent data of pharmacological relevant processes are a crucial requirement. However, because the greatest pitfall comes from pre‐existing errors, we recommend always making published data available as raw values.ĭuring the past few years, quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) and especially physiologically‐based pharmacokinetics modeling (PBPK) have proven to be an important cornerstone of model‐informed drug discovery and development. Our findings suggest that data digitizing is precise and important. Analysis of 181 literature peak plasma concentration values revealed a considerable discrepancy between reported and post hoc digitized data with 85% having ζ > 5%. Although significant, no relevant confounders were found (mean ζ ± SD circles = 0.69% ± 0.68% vs. Accuracy, precision, confounder influence, and variability were investigated using scaled median symmetric accuracy (ζ), thus finding excellent accuracy (mean ζ = 0.99%). To quantify their relevance, a literature search revealed a remarkable mean increase of 16% per year in publications citing digitizing software together with QSP or PBPK. In quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) and physiologically‐based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling, data digitizing is a valuable tool to extract numerical information from published data presented as graphs.

The initial ideas could be displayed through multiple mechanisms, such as sketches, rough prototypes etc. This refinement process plays a significant role in generating a design solution. It is usually a raw, formless, diffuse feeling which needs to be refined through a specific process (Sinnamon & Miller, 2021). Sometimes, this made them follow their design tutors as role models rather than understanding real meanings or values demanded by the problem at hand.Īrchitectural design ideas are not generated as a complete formation (Demirkan & Hasirci, 2009 Sinnamon & Miller, 2021 van Dooren, 2020). Reflection on action is a prevalent methodology followed in architectural design studio, where students get direct reflections from their design tutors (Schön, 2016). Those ideas and concepts are refined through several intermediate tutoring sessions where architectural students get the exposure of expert designers within the studio setup (Cennamo et al., 2011). In the architectural design process, the designer (architect) has the sole authority and freedom on developing design ideas and concepts (Lawson, 2006). Many design teachers are experiencing less practical, less human-friendly, less focused design solutions while tutoring (Webster, 2004 Yorgancıoğlu & Tunalı, 2020). Moreover, in order to provide remedial solutions, a clear understanding of the problem is needed to be aware. The support and space created in the ADP to empathise is the problem we see and intend to explore. We believe empathising in an architectural context needs to cover a broader spectrum than being familiar with the site and the users. The product-oriented process does not give the designer sufficient room to empathise (Hargrove & Nietfeld, 2015 Taneri & Dogan, 2021). In order to do this, a clear picture of the current process needs to be drawn. The ADP should be involved with the mix of functional, structural, environmental and socio-cultural values (Abdelhameed, 2017). Especially when, where, and how they get involved in the design process are essential facts that need to be explored. The voice and insights of the real user could significantly impact the final design, and this will be varied according to the level of their involvement. Investigating how the intended user has been integrated during the design process is the key objective of this study. The research questions were aligned to find answers on how the architectural design process assisted in the conventional design studio has been addressing the actual user of the final product, a space. Since the actual user of a building is important, our focus is on integrating their involvement into the design process. This literature review focuses on exploring the process followed in architectural practice which could be helpful in giving potential suggestions to fine-tune the design process to fill the existing voids in the current design process. In order to understand the architectural design process, a proper in-depth exploration is needed. The voids in the design process led students to generate less realistic solutions. Since the solutions are generated through a specific process, we have identified a problem that generates problematic results. The question is if those design solutions address the needs of the users. Architects create human-friendly living spaces for various functions (Abdullah et al., 2011). An architectural design studio is a learning process that consists of unique and specific processes adopted on designing (Schön, 2016). Furthermore, many scholars have discussed the architectural design process, but there is a significant gap in discussing the involvement of users and context during the design process.Įxploring the architectural design studio process and its practice was the key focus of this article. It is evident that the lack of integrating the intended user in the design process has impacted the solutions. The results have given data to draw a Design Process model which is specific for architectural design studio practice. Grounded Theory was applied to generate a theory based on the data or findings. The data was analysed by the content analysis based on the Grounded Theory. For the literature review, 50 articles were selected by eliminating the non-related and non-suitable articles based on the rubric developed. The most relevant articles for the review were identified by applying an inclusion and exclusion criteria based on a rubric developed to find answers to the research questions developed. This study was carried out by adopting systematic literature review methodology. Exploring and identifying the real design process which occurs within the conventional design studio is the key focus of this study. The architectural design process is a unique process that has its inherent phases with specific activities within. Florida Tech Hubįlorida Tech Hub, known as "The Hub" is a web application designed to revolutionize student management at Florida Tech.
Recorded on February 12, 1992, it’s a blistering set that includes 10 of the 11 songs on Trace, along with six Uncle Tupelo songs, a tune that would appear on Son Volt’s second album, and a cover of Del Reeves’ “Looking at the World Through a Windshield.” “We had been touring pretty continuously for about six months, so in a lot of ways, we had the act down, and in some other ways, there’s some looseness to it,” Farrar told me recently for a Wall Street Journal story. There’s no demo arrangement here that outshines the final version, which is how it should be: the full-band expressions of Farrar’s initial ideas allowed for subtleties in the songs that the scratchy, minimalist sketches weren’t intended to contain. Most of the differences are subtle: Farrar tweaked the lyrics here and there, dropped the arpeggiated intro on “Live Free” in favor of jumping straight into the meat of the song and replaced the “B-Bender” guitar he played to create a pedal steel effect on “Windfall” and “Out of the Picture” with actual pedal steel and fiddle, respectively. The demos, mostly laid down on a simple four-track cassette recorder, offer an instructive look at the evolution of the songs from their early incarnations to the polished final versions. In addition to remastered versions of the 11 original songs on Trace, the expanded reissue includes eight previously unreleased demos and a near-complete 18-song concert recording from a show the band played in New York early in 1996. Though Farrar’s focus has changed over the years, the 20th anniversary reissue of Trace is a reminder of his formidable musical prowess and the fearsome agility of the original Son Volt lineup, which dissolved after the band’s 1998 album, Wide Swing Tremolo. Rather, each band followed its own muse, and Wilco became the more visible-and often more acclaimed-descendant of Uncle Tupelo. Beach Boys one-upmanship that Trace and A.M. The subsequent paths of Son Volt and Wilco didn’t yield the sort of Beatles vs. The album was musically more sophisticated-the sturdy balance of quiet and loud, elegiac vocal harmonies, that dusty acoustic guitar lick on “Windfall” that opens the album-with Farrar singing like the seasoned road warrior he had become, and sounding as if he drew the lyrics from a deep well of hard-earned wisdom. Farrar reunited with original Tupelo drummer Mike Heidorn and teamed with Minneapolis brothers Jim and Dave Boquist in Son Volt to present an alternate viewpoint, and set an impressively high standard, with the release of Trace that September. When the group broke up in 1994, Farrar’s former bandmate Jeff Tweedy refashioned the rest of the latter-day Uncle Tupelo lineup into Wilco and presented his vision of Americana on A.M., released in March 1995. Son Volt’s 1995 debut remains a defining document of the ’90s alt-country movement, which singer and guitarist Jay Farrar helped spark with his previous band, Uncle Tupelo. Here’s the thing about reviewing reissues: context and perspective may change, and technology will inexorably advance, but songs that were great 20 years ago will generally still be great songs now. LastPass and 1Password are popular choices in this space due to their affordable pricing, robust security features, and intuitive user interfaces. These services make it easy to store and manage unique passwords for all of your digital accounts across all your devices. Once you’ve enabled it from the web console, selected items will be completely invisible and inaccessible, so even if you’re required to surrender your phone for inspection, no one will be able to see which sites you frequent or access your accounts.Password managers are more popular than ever and for a good reason. It’s convenient and works well, but it’s annoying that you can’t share credentials with users who aren’t in your family group.įinally, a unique feature of 1Password is its Travel Mode, which can protect your credentials from snooping authorities. If you’re using the family package, you can also collect items together into a shared family vault and specify exactly who can access passwords and who can change them. This is useful information, although 1Password does nothing to help you actually change credentials, beyond providing a direct link to each site. The Watchtower dashboard (in either the main website or the desktop app) tells you which of your passwords are weak, reused or potentially compromised. Importing my passwords from Chrome was a manual affair, too, that involved exporting a CSV file from the browser, then dragging it into 1Password.ġPassword review: Does it have any other notable features? Each time you install it on a new device or browser you need to provide your master password plus your unique 34-character secret key (or scan in a QR code). I found 1Password slightly fiddly to set up. Meanwhile, the open-source Bitwarden offers cross-platform password management for free, and its family offering comes in at just $40 a year, equivalent to around £28. 1Password also offers no equivalent to Dashlane’s built-in VPN. While the price looks competitive, however, you can’t share credentials with an individual 1Password account, as you can with its rivals. The Family plan costs $60 (around £43) per annum, which is the same as Dashlane, and £1.20 a year more than LastPass. That’s less than you’ll pay for Dashlane (£29) or LastPass (£31.20). The latter includes 5GB of document storage, granular security controls, auditing features and family accounts for all team members.ġPassword review: Is it good value compared to the competition?Īs we’ve mentioned, a standard subscription to 1Password works out to around £26 a year. You can also nominate up to five guests for read-only access to selected items.įor organisational use, the publisher offers a flexible Teams subscription tier costing $4 per user per month, and a fully loaded Business plan for $8 per month. Members don’t really have to all be from the same household, and you can add extra people for a dollar per month each. If you want to share information with anyone else you’ll need a family account, which costs $60 per year (around £43) for up to five people. An individual subscription costs $36 a year (around £26 at the time of writing), and allows you to store and synchronise up to 1GB of data across any number of devices and platforms. 1Password review: What do you get for the money?ġPassword doesn’t offer a free service: you can try it out for for 14 days, but after that you have to pay to keep using it. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) : 278.Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).The disorders in which risk is increased the greatest include: These are not the only disorders that can increase the risk of suicidal ideation. The following list includes the disorders that have been shown to be the strongest predictors of suicidal ideation. One study found that 73% of patients with borderline personality disorder have attempted suicide, with the average patient having 3.4 attempts. For example, many individuals with borderline personality disorder exhibit recurrent suicidal behavior and suicidal thoughts. There are several psychiatric disorders that appear to be comorbid with suicidal ideation or considerably increase the risk of suicidal ideation. Suicidal ideation is a symptom of many mental disorders and can occur in response to adverse life events without the presence of a mental disorder. The risk factors for suicidal ideation can be divided into three categories: psychiatric disorders, life events, and family history. Įuphemisms related to mortal contemplation include internal struggle, voluntary death, and eating one's gun. A commonly experienced example of this is the high place phenomenon, also referred to as the call of the void, the sudden urge to jump when in a high place. When someone who has not shown a history of suicidal ideation experiences a sudden and pronounced thought of performing an act which would necessarily lead to their own death, psychologists call this an intrusive thought. Terminology Īnother term for suicidal ideation is suicidal thoughts. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines suicidal ideation "as thinking about, considering, or planning suicide". The DSM-5 defines it as "thoughts about self-harm, with deliberate consideration or planning of possible techniques of causing one's own death". The ICD-11 describes suicidal ideation as "thoughts, ideas, or ruminations about the possibility of ending one's life, ranging from thinking that one would be better off dead to formulation of elaborate plans". There are a number of treatment options for people who experience suicidal ideation. Mental health researchers indicate that healthcare systems should provide treatment for individuals with suicidal ideation, regardless of diagnosis, because of the risk for suicidal acts and repeated problems associated with suicidal thoughts. Suicidal ideation is associated with depression and other mood disorders however, many other mental disorders, life events and family events can increase the risk of suicidal ideation. Suicidal thoughts are also common among teenagers. adults seriously thought about suicide, 3.5 million planned a suicide attempt, 1.4 million attempted suicide, and more than 47,500 died by suicide. population, reported having suicidal thoughts in the previous year, while an estimated 2.2 million reported having made suicide plans in the previous year. During 2008–09, an estimated 8.3 million adults aged 18 and over in the United States, or 3.7% of the adult U.S. Most people who have suicidal thoughts do not go on to make suicide attempts, but suicidal thoughts are considered a risk factor. Active suicidal ideation involves preparation to commit suicide or forming a plan to do so. Passive suicidal ideation is thinking about not wanting to live or imagining being dead. On suicide risk scales, the range of suicidal ideation varies from fleeting thoughts to detailed planning. It is not a diagnosis but is a symptom of some mental disorders, use of certain psychoactive drugs, and can also occur in response to adverse life events without the presence of a mental disorder. Suicidal ideation, or suicidal thoughts, is the thought process of having ideas, or ruminations about the possibility of ending one's own life. Sappho, an 1897 portrait by Ernst Stückelberg The full version of VueScan costs almost $40, so we'll stick with the utility that came with our scanner, but VueScan is a worthy alternative.Įditors' note: This is a review of the trial version of VueScan 9.2.19. Since you need a scanner to use VueScan, it's likely your scanner came with similar software. A pop-up notified us about the output watermark we pressed "OK." Our finished and saved scan opened inside Windows Photo Viewer with the watermark liberally applied, but otherwise a close reproduction of the original. We loaded an image and pressed "Preview." VueScan's preview looked good, so we pressed "Scan," though we could also press "Guide Me" for more information or "Abort" to cancel the scan. The Scanner menu's Calibrate control automatically optimized VueScan's preview display, but the software offers many options for tweaking and fine-tuning images, color balance, and other parameters. We had but one scanner, but VueScan lets you choose between multiple scanners and compatible image data sources, when available. Unter Windows 64-Bit müssen Sie VueScan 64-Bit verwenden, damit der Transparenzadapter dieses Scanners erkannt wird. VueScan resembles many scanner utilities we've tried, with a main window showing Preview and Scan tabs and a left-hand navigation and control panel tabbed for Input, Crop, Filter, Color, Output, and Prefs. These frequent on-screen explanations and other data showed VueScan's emphasis on ease of use and support. It also displayed an optional tool tip, and the message box on the Input tab asked what we wanted to do, following up its question with specific examples and actions. VueScan automatically detected our USB flatbed scanner when it opened. VueScan (64-bit) is a scanning program that works with most high-quality flatbed and film scanners to produce scans that have color fidelity and color. VueScan supports Windows versions 2000 to 8. The free trial might also support fewer devices, though the list of supported devices is so long that we can't imagine what could be left off. VueScan is free to try, though the trial version places a watermark on saved images. VueScan's processing features can restore faded colors and perform other professional-type adjustments, but it's also easy to use. VueScan is compatible with most flatbed and film scanners, and their software, which means you can use it without making any changes to your PC or existing scanner software. You've got a scanner, but to scan images into your PC, you need software like VueScan from Hamrick Software. In a Q&A on September 25, 2018, when asked if there would be additional seasons, McGillis responded with "Nope. Alex Ganetakos, the executive story editor and the senior writer for the series, also mentioned in 2014 that the production team planned to make more seasons in the future. McGillis had stated in 2013 that his personal goal was for Total Drama to go up to ten seasons. The first segment, Total Drama All-Stars, takes place on the original island from the first season, Camp Wawanakwa, while the second segment, Total Drama: Pahkitew Island, features a new setting and cast. The fifth season was divided into two different segments. An early name for the series was Camp TV when the series first started production in 2006. All the characters were designed by Kauffman. Įvery cast and crew member on Total Drama had to sign a confidentiality agreement not to disclose who the winner was. It was animated in Flash, at Elliott Animation's studio in Toronto. The budget for the first season was US$8,000,000. Fresh TV partners McGillis, Pertsch, Elliott and Irving produced the series. McGillis says they used a "countrywide online research project" to determine this demographic's likes. The first season came out in Italy on April 10, 2023, with the original English version being available on Discovery+ in the region, and will later see an international extension. Both seasons will serve as a soft-reboot of the original series, and none of the original voice actors will reprise their roles nor returning any of the previous contestants due to timeline and casting mandates. On February 17, 2021, it was announced that a revival of Total Drama had been greenlit, with two new seasons being produced for Cartoon Network and HBO Max in the United States, Cartoon Network in Canada, and CBBC in the United Kingdom. A second spin-off series, Total DramaRama, premiered on September 1, 2018, in the U.S., and on October 7, 2018, in Canada. A spin-off series, Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race premiered on September 7, 2015. Total Drama has developed a cult following and spawned a franchise. The series currently consists of six seasons ( Island, Action, World Tour, Revenge of the Island, the two-part All-Stars and Pahkitew Island, and the revival of Total Drama Island). When there are only two contestants left, they compete in a final challenge where the winner is awarded a cash prize C$100,000 ( US$73,129.00) in the first season, C$1,000,000 ( US$731,485.00) from the second season onward. As the contestants develop relationships with each other, they are progressively eliminated from the game. The teams merge roughly halfway through the competition into individuals. Įach season revolves around a group of teenagers competing in an elimination-style competition, in that the contestants compete in challenges both as teams and individually for rewards and immunity from elimination. The series is both a homage and satire of common conventions from reality television competition shows like Survivor. Total Drama (often shortened as TD) is a Canadian animated television series created by Jennifer Pertsch and Tom McGillis that premiered on Cartoon Network (formerly Teletoon) in Canada on July 8, 2007, and on Cartoon Network in the U.S. Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race. The problem is unlike linux windows will not work on a usb drive by default. Access times can suffer for SSDs even on 3.0, but it's not bad at all, trust me as long as you have a good drive adapter and a good drive itself it's fine, and you'll even see SSD benefits for random access times over mech drives despite some bottlenecking.
