![]() There's some driver magic you have to do, especially if you plan to install to the usb drive instead of installing then making the changes needed. The problem is unlike linux windows will not work on a usb drive by default. Access times can suffer for SSDs even on 3.0, but it's not bad at all, trust me as long as you have a good drive adapter and a good drive itself it's fine, and you'll even see SSD benefits for random access times over mech drives despite some bottlenecking. A usb stick would be, but the throughput of even 2.0 is good enough for a mechanical hard drive- cutting total write speed down to below 60MB/s from between 100-140MB/s, but most writes and reads are NOT sequential.
